Brightline: The Value of Uncertainty - Risk Management in Strategy Implementation

The Brightline Initiative (www.brightline.org) focusses on closing the strategy design and implementation gap. The Engineering Systems Division at DTU has received a research grant to investigate the role of risks and uncertainties in the strategy process of technology-driven organizations.

The project focusses on the following aspects:

  • Modeling the strategy process and its associated risks and uncertainties

  • Investigating the use of “simple rules” and other decision making heuristics by senior executives to handle uncertainties and risks in critical decisions

  • Applying Design Thinking principles to developing simple, visual tools for executive-level decision support under uncertainty.
